♥KirkwoodVIRTUALSummerFestival♥
Saturday, July 3, 2021 at 5:00pm.
The annual Kirkwood Summer Festival is the signature fundraising event for the Kirkwood Volunteer Fire Department (KVFD). We hoped to be back on the Plaza this summer for BBQ, wine and beer tasting, and live music but unfortunately that is not possible. However, we can still be together as a community, virtually, and show our support for our all-volunteer fire department during the ♥KirkwoodVirtualSummerFestival♥ which will be held on Saturday, July 3rd at 5:00pm. Click HERE for more information.
Much like last year's Virtual Summer Festival, the ♥KirkwoodVirtualSummerFestival♥ will feature a fun video celebrating our fearless first responders. This year, we would like to add one important element: YOU! Here are two ways that you, your friends, and family can be part of the video:
Kirkwood Kids Art Show: Kids, create a work of art for the volunteer firefighters. Send a picture of your masterpiece to Jessica at jgillies@kmpud.com
Shout Out: Record a 3-6 second video of yourself, friends, and family shouting "Thank You KVFD Firefighters!" or "We love you!". Send the video to Jessica at jgillies@kmpud.com
Our fundraising goal this year is to raise $100,000 towards the purchase of a new Type 1 fire engine. Type 1 engines are equipped with high-capacity pumps, and carry a variety of hoses, tall ladders, and other essential equipment needed during emergencies. KVFD currently has two Type 1 engines that are 35 and 15 years old. It is time to start fundraising to purchase a replacement for the 35-year-old engine.
The men and women of KVFD are the only emergency responders in Kirkwood and as an isolated community we rely on them to help keep us safe. Here's how you can help support KVFD and keep Kirkwood safe and protected:
Make A Cash Donation: Click HERE Please consider making a cash donation to help KVFD buy a new Type 1 fire engine. The price tag is $650,000 for just the engine and does not include the equipment that goes onboard. Our goal is to raise $100,000 this year, knowing it will take six years or more to raise all the money needed.
Donate A Silent Auction Item: Handmade crafts, Kirkwood art, outdoor clothing and gear, wine, gift cards, etc. will be graciously accepted and appreciated. If you would like to donate an item, click HERE
Bid on Items in the Online Silent Auction: The Silent Auction will be up and running from June 21st through July 3rd. Stay tuned for more information.
Thanks to Kirkwood Kid, Hazel Benson for sending in her masterpiece, pictured below!
