VIRTUAL Summer Festival - IT'S ON!

Social distancing guidelines require physical distancing that we cannot safely adhere to on the Village Plaza for the Kirkwood Summer Festival and Silent Auction, therefore, the event will be VIRTUAL on July 5th from 5:00pm to 6:00pm. All of the details will be sent out soon. SAVE THE DATE and we look forward to seeing everyone for an interesting and fun filled hour on July 5th.
A group of community volunteers is working on a Virtual only event and online auction to support the Kirkwood Volunteer Fire Department. Starting June 24th, you will be able to shop the Silent Auction from the comfort of your home on your phone, tablet, or computer.

Here’s how you can help: While we won’t be on the plaza together, we can still be a community – by supporting KVFD with a donation to the auction or bid on an item on the online auction.

• Register to attend the event when you receive the online invitation.

• Please donate to help support the Kirkwood Volunteer Fire Department

• Look at the Auction website daily and Stay Home and Bid On!

• If you have items you would like to donate for the silent auction, please contact cheryl.stern49@gmail.com.

Watch your inbox for more details about the Virtual Kirkwood Summer Festival in the coming weeks to learn how you can join the conversation. Thank you for donating to the Kirkwood Volunteer Fire Department. Imagine if we didn’t have this resource in our community. It takes the whole community to support Kirkwood’s frontline heroes.

Donate to KVFD While You Shop

Your online purchases can benefit the Kirkwood Volunteer Fire Department (KVFD) through AmazonSmile and eScrip. AmazonSmile is a simple way for you to support the Kirkwood Volunteer Fire Department (KVFD) every time you shop on Amazon. Next time you login to your account, use https://smile.amazon.com//, select Kirkwood Volunteer Fire Department as your recipient and start shopping. Amazon will donate 0.5% of the purchase price of eligible products to KVFD (look for the notation “Eligible for AmazonSmile Donation” on each product). Please note that donations are made by the AmazonSmile Foundation and are not tax deductible.

KVFD joined Electronic Scrip Inc. (eScrip) in 2016 to give you another opportunity to support KVFD while you shop. eScrip is a California based corporation that has partnered with a wide range of online and local merchants who contribute a percentage of your purchases to your favorite non-profit. If you have already registered at https://www.escrip.com/, thank you, your purchases have benefitted KVFD. If you have not joined eScrip and you shop online or in person with Amazon, Target, Nordstrom and hundreds of other online and local merchants across the state and country visit https://www.escrip.com/howitworks/ to learn more and start earning money for KVFD while you shop.

Renewable Energy and Propane Offset Program

Thank you to everyone who participated in the Renewable Energy and Propane Offset Program! Your voluntary Propane Offset purchases reduced greenhouse gas emissions through Carbon Offsets purchased from Bonneville Environmental Foundation and directly supported the McCloud River Improved Forest Management Project, located 20 miles southeast of Mt. Shasta. This project is conservation-based management of 9,000 acres of commercial timberlands that increases the total carbon stored and protects sensitive habitat species while timber is harvested, supporting the local economy. Fifteen square miles of forest and 8 miles of the famous McCloud River will be forested and productive in perpetuity thanks, in part, to your thoughtful participation in the District’s Renewable Energy and Propane Offset Program. The certificate below details the total number of Carbon Offsets purchased by Kirkwood homeowners and the effect on global greenhouse emissions.

Thank You Mask Makers of Kirkwood!

The District wants to recognize and Thank  community members Anne O’Grady, Sandy Goldberg, Beth McAllister, and Theresa Ende, who have made and donated face masks to District staff.  As the District provides essential services, District staff have been reporting to work during the COVID-19 shelter-in-place order to ensure that the essential needs of the Kirkwood Community are met.  All essential workers have been directed by the Alpine County Health Officer to wear face masks while at work. Community members came to our rescue and donated homemade masks to District staff. We can’t thank them enough!

Thank You for the Hand Sanitizer!

Kirkwood Volunteer Fire Department volunteers want to extend a huge Thank You to Kirkwood homeowner, Niels Udsen and Bethel Rd. Distillery for donating hand sanitizer to the Fire Department. This donation is helping to keep the volunteer firefighters safe while they keep Kirkwood safe.
