"About Us"
The Kirkwood Meadows Public Utility District (KMPUD) was formed in 1985 when it detached from the El Dorado Irrigation District and became an independent Special District.
KMPUD stretches into three counties: Alpine, Amador, and El Dorado. KMPUD's boundaries encompass approximately 1.1 square miles (704 acres) in the three counties
KMPUD is governed by a five member Board of Directors. The Directors are elected by district voters to serve staggered, four year terms.
Kirkwood is a mountain resort community and peak activity and population occur during snow season. The village core includes a combination of residential, lodging, and commercial uses serving residents and guests.
There are approximately 100 residents living in KMPUD boundaries but seasonal daily population maximums may reach 6,500 persons. The District's population density is 17 per square mile, compared to the countywide density of 64 in Amador County.
The District services 844 active water connections, of which 703 are residential, 45 are commercial, and 96 are irrigation. KMPUD receives its water supply entirely from groundwater wells.
