Since November 2007, the Kirkwood Meadows Public Utility District has been actively involved in a recycling program with ACES Waste Services. This program was partially funded by donations from ACES Waste Services and grant funds from Alpine County.
Helpful Recycling and Conservation Tips:
-
Skip the bottled water and use a water filter to purify tap water and an aluminum reuseable container. This will cut down on container waste while saving you money.
-
Borrow instead of buying. Borrow from libraries instead of purchasing books and movies. This will save you money, cut down on package waste, and save trees.
-
Buy in bulk whenever possible. Purchasing food from bulk bins saves money and unwanted packaging.
-
Keep cell phones and other electronics as long as possible. Donate or recycle these items when the time comes. Electronic waste contains mercury and other toxins that are harmful to the environment.
